Equalizer Profiles

Introduction
This repository contains custom equalizer profiles designed to improve audio quality on Windows and Linux systems.
The profiles are intended for music, gaming, movies, and general multimedia use, and can be adapted to different audio devices and personal preferences.
Windows
- Equalizer APO
- Peace Equalizer (GUI for Equalizer APO)
Linux
- EasyEffects (PipeWire – recommended)
- PulseEffects (PulseAudio – legacy)
- PipeWire native equalizer filters
⚠️ Most modern Linux distributions (Fedora, Arch, Ubuntu 22.10+) use PipeWire by default.
In this case, EasyEffects is the recommended solution.
Requirements
Windows
- Equalizer APO
https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/
- Peace Equalizer
https://sourceforge.net/projects/peace-equalizer-apo-extension/
Linux
- EasyEffects
- Flatpak (recommended):
flatpak install flathub com.github.wwmm.easyeffects
- Or install via your distribution package manager
- PipeWire (usually installed by default)
Categories
The equalizer profiles are organized by audio device type:
-
Earphones
In-ear devices such as IEMs and earbuds (wired or wireless).
-
Headphones
Over-ear and on-ear headphones for music listening, monitoring, and general use.
-
Headsets (Gamer)
Gaming headsets with built-in microphones, optimized for games, voice chat, and multimedia.
-
Speakers
Desktop speakers, bookshelf speakers, and traditional speaker systems.
-
Soundbars
Soundbars used with TVs, monitors, or desktop setups.
This structure ensures consistency across Windows (Peace / Equalizer APO)
and Linux (EasyEffects / PipeWire / PulseEffects) environments.
How to Apply Profiles
Windows (Peace Equalizer)
- Open Peace Equalizer.
- Configure the frequency bands and filters according to the profile.
- Click Save settings and name your profile
Example: MyEQConfig.
- To load a profile:
- Open Peace Equalizer
- Go to Presets
- Select
MyEQConfig
Linux (EasyEffects)
- Open EasyEffects.
- Enable the Equalizer effect.
- Configure the frequency bands manually or import a preset.
- Click Presets → Save Preset.
- (Optional) Assign the preset to:
- System output
- Specific applications
EasyEffects supports per-application profiles, which is not available in Equalizer APO.
Profile Compatibility Notes
- Frequency bands and gain values are fully transferable between:
- Peace Equalizer ↔ EasyEffects
- Some filter names may differ depending on the application:
- Preamp → Input Gain
- Peak Filter → Bell Filter
- Always adjust preamp/input gain to avoid clipping or distortion.
Final Considerations
These profiles are based on personal listening preferences and may not be ideal for:
- Every headset, headphone, or speaker
- All music genres or use cases
Feel free to tweak:
- Gain levels
- Q values
- Preamp volume
If you improve or adapt a profile for a specific device, consider sharing it with the community.
